Tragic News on Cargo Plane Crash: Fatalities Increases to 13

The total count of fatalities due to the UPS cargo plane that burst into flames and went down has now reached 13, according to official reports.

Official's Announcement

“On my way to the Teamsters’ candlelight gathering, I was informed of a 13th person that died as a consequence of the UPS flight 2976 crash,” expressed the municipal leader in a social media post. “My prayers is with the relatives, friends and peers of all who were killed in this recent tragedy. We will endure this collectively.”

Casualties Identified

An announcement from UPS identified the officers on board the jet as Captain Richard Wartenberg, First Officer Lee Truitt, and International Relief Officer Dana Diamond.

“Our hearts reach out to all employee who has been impacted and all in our Louisville area – helping you and making sure you receive the care and assistance you need is our focus,” the company’s communication read.

Probe Findings

National authorities revealed that the jet’s left wing ignited and an engine detached just after takeoff from the Louisville Muhammad Ali international airport, leading to the aircraft to fall and burst into a blaze.

The NTSB has said it is probing the jet’s upkeep logs, that was in Texas for fixes several weeks ahead of the incident.

Aircraft records indicated the plane was on the tarmac in San Antonio, Texas from early September to mid-October.

“We are cognizant that this jet was present in San Antonio,” said an official on the following day, without a specific date range. “We will examine each aspect of repairs that was done, even the repair period, straight to the time of the journey.”

Findings of Key Components

The audio device and data recorder were recovered, and the motor was located on the tarmac.

The devices – known as data containers – were designed to survive collision damage and extreme fire from fires, and they seemed to be intact when located among the remains. Investigators plan on examining information from the black boxes.

Jet’s last recorded information showed an height of 475 ft and a speed of that speed ahead of the impact.

Repair History

Per aviation authority records dated that date, a crack on a component inside the fuel container needed maintenance.

The company ST Engineering, which stated it offers airframe maintenance for the carrier’s aircraft and manages a maintenance center in San Antonio, chose not to speak, but said it would cooperate fully when investigators reached out it.

Services Resume

Meanwhile, UPS Worldport operations continued that evening with its overnight also known as night sort process, representative the company official confirmed. The three tarmacs at the aviation hub were also reopened.

The distribution hub in Louisville is the firm’s largest. The center hires more than a large number of people in the area, manages three hundred flights per day and sorts in excess of a huge volume of parcels an hour.

Public Support

A candlelight vigil was held on the evening of 6 November by the area labor union, which represents employees at the airfield, the company’s largest air cargo hub.

The union chapter, which supports staff, began the gathering with a quiet tribute at 5.14pm, the estimated moment of the accident two days earlier.

“This tragedy was so abrupt, so surprising,” the official told the assembly of two hundred. “No one had a moment to bid farewell to any of those who we have said farewell to.”
